An explosion has been reported near a office for migrants in southern Germany, according to a German broadcaster.

Broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk said the blast took place at a centre in Zirndorf, near Nuremberg.

The Bavarian State Interior Ministry told NBC News the explosion was "very small" and "no one was injured".

The official also played down reports the explosion occurred "outside" a migration office, but instead "was some distance away from any building".

It is believed the blast "came from a backpack filled with hairspray canisters".
