Driver chased car at 115mph after being cut off at roundabout
Marc Sivewright was caught speeding on the A92 by an unmarked police car.
A driver hit speeds of 115mph while being tailed by an unmarked police car because he had "taken umbrage" at being cut off at a roundabout.
Marc Sivewright sped through 50, 60 and 70mph zones at an average speed of 115mph on the A92 on the outskirts of Dundee.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Sivewright was chasing another motorist because he had been cut off at a roundabout.
Police had been patrolling the road in an unmarked car at around 5.45pm on March 19 when they saw Sivewright approach in his BMW X6.
Fiscal depute Trina Sinclair told the court that police did a speed check then followed him for a short distance, recording an average speed of 115mph over 1.43 miles.
Sivewright, 43, from Carlogie in Carnoustie, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving at 115mph.
Defence solicitor Gary McIlravey said: "There is no excuse. His position is that this offence happened between two roundabouts.
"When he was coming up to the second roundabout he was cut off by another driver and took umbrage at this.
"He reacted by speeding off after the car which he knows he shouldn't have done.
"By the time he was pulled over by police he was already down to the correct speed and explained what had happened to them."
Sheriff Richard McFarlane deferred sentence until August 3.
