Work on a cancer drop-in centre in Larbert has come to a halt after the constructors went into administration.

The Maggie's Centre at Forth Valley Hospital was due to open this summer but that deadline is now in doubt after builders Dunne Group stopped trading.

Maggie's now hopes to find alternative arrangements to enable work on the centre to continue.

A spokeswoman said: "We have seen on the news that the Dunne Group have gone into administration and our thoughts are with the staff who have lost jobs.

"We are in the process of planning other arrangements for the completion of Maggie's Forth Valley so as to minimise any delay to the centre."

Construction and engineering firm the Dunne Group entered administration earlier this week, leading to the loss of around 200 jobs in Scotland.

The Bathgate-based firm ceased trading after it made substantial losses on several contracts.

FRP Advisory has been appointed as administrators to the group and its subsidiaries.

Across the UK, 524 of the 540 people employed by the group will lose their jobs immediately.

In Scotland, 16 people will be retained to help with the closure.
