Man murdered woman after meeting her on dating website
Miles Donnelly strangled Usha Patel and stabbed her 16 times in a 'drunken rage'.
A man has admitted murdering a woman he met on a dating website in a "drunken rage".
Miles Donnelly, 35, strangled 44-year-old Usha Patel at the home she shared with her five-year-old son in Cricklewood, north-west London, last October.
The court heard that during the attack, Donnelly stabbed Ms Patel 16 times in the stomach.
He also hit her around the head and injured her mouth as he attempted to stop her from screaming.
Ms Patel's battered body was discovered the next day when her son's grandfather arrived to pick him up and was told she was still sleeping.
Police found Donnelly's house keys at Ms Patel's home
Inside the flat, officers found a set of house keys which belonged to Donnelly. Forensic evidence including samples from a wine glass was also matched to him.
Donnelly went on to assault a second woman
Donnelly, who had a lifestyle of drink and drugs and a long criminal history, went on to assault a second woman, Rosie Ferrigno, causing her actual bodily harm.
He had denied charges of murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm but changed his plea on the first day of the trial at the Old Bailey.
Police: Usha's family "devastated"
Det Insp James Stevenson, from Scotland Yard, said Usha's family "are completely devastated", adding he was pleased that Donnelly faces a "considerable" sentence.
Sentencing was adjourned until Thursday.
