A decomposed body has been found in a flat in the south side of Glasgow.

Police were unable to say if the body is that of a man or a woman because of the condition, however, they are treating the death as suspicious.

Officers attended the flat in Kenmure Street, Pollokshields, at around 9.50am on Thursday.

The force said detectives from its major investigation team are investigating the death.

It said officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and CCTV footage will also be gathered.

Detective Mark Henderson said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing and specialist forensic teams have been conducting enquiries at the scene. We are in the process of determining when the death occurred and efforts are under way to establish the person's identity.

"I am seeking the assistance of the local community to provide us with any information, I am asking them to think back over the last two-to-three weeks, did you see anything unusual, did you hear anything unusual?

"Please, pass on any information, even if you think it's unimportant, let us be the judge of that and please do pass it on - your information could prove vital in helping us establish what has happened."

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at the incident room at Govan Police Office on 0141 532 5415 or call 101.
