Armed robbers abscond from Castle Huntly open prison
Kieran Kiely and Daniel Hussain were reported missing from the jail on Wednesday.
Two armed robbers have absconded from an open prison.
Kieran Kiely and Daniel Hussain, both prisoners at HMP Castle Huntly near Dundee, were reported missing at around 4.20pm on Wednesday.
Kiely, 23, was jailed for five years in 2014 after stealing a BMW in Helensburgh, Argyll, by threatening the owner with a knife.
Hussain, 24, was sentenced to five years in prison in 2013 for attempting to rob a jewellery shop before two shopkeepers fought back and grabbed him by the testicles.
Police Scotland said Kiely has connections in Glasgow, Stirling and Fife, while Hussain was known to have links to Glasgow and Perth.
A spokeswoman warned members of the public "should not approach these men" and instead contact police.
Kiely is described as 5ft 4in, of stocky build with short dark hair, while Hussain is 5ft 10in, of medium build with short dark hair.
