Drivers warned of disruption as roadworks take place on A9
Maintenance will be carried out at five locations between Perth and Dunblane this month.
Motorists are being warned of potential disruption as a series of roadworks take place on the A9 between Perth and Dunblane this month.
Road maintenance will be carried out at five locations, starting on Wednesday.
Resurfacing works are planned at three locations near Gleneagles and Cairnie Braes, while road safety and junction improvements are being carried out at the Forteviot junction.
In addition, the second phase of footway improvements at Gleneagles, which began in February this year, will also be completed.
All five sets of works, with a value of £350,000, will take place overnight to minimise the impact to motorists.
Andy Thompson, the north east representative for roads agency Bear Scotland, said: "The A9 between Perth and Dunblane is used by almost 30,000 vehicles a day and the improvements will help ensure it is continues to function safely.
"The resurfacing will repair any cracks on potholes in the surface, and the works at Forteviot will help improve visibility at the junction which will enhance safety for road users.
"The footway works at Gleneagles will also improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists in the area and forms part of a network-wide strategy to encourage walking and cycling.
"Whilst completing such works requires traffic management to ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, we have scheduled all of the works to take place overnight so as to minimise disruption to motorists as much as possible, and have planned the schemes to be completed as quickly and safely as we can.
"We'd encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information and if possible leaving a little additional time to reach their destination."
The works will begin at Abbey Road, Overbridge, southbound for three nights over Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
A 10mph convoy system will be implemented each night between 7.30pm and 6.30am.
Then, for two nights next Monday and Tuesday, resurfacing will be carried out on the Auchterarder junction, southbound with a 10mph contraflow.
The Gleneagles footways work will start on Monday for two weeks.
The left-turn into the A824 Auchterarder Junction will be closed and work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6.30am.
Diversions will be put in place via the A823 Loaninghead Interchange and the A824 Aberuthven Junction.
Cairnie Bridge, northbound will be affected over two nights on Wednesday, July 20, and Thursday, July 21, with a 10mph convoy system in place overnight.
The final section of junction improvements at Upper Cairnie and Forteviot junction will be completed over two nights on Monday, July 25, and Tuesday, July 26.
