A dangerous batch of drugs being circulated at T in the Park has led to a police warning.

The deaths of two teenagers on the first day of the festival are being investigated and police have said drugs are a possible cause.

On Sunday night a number of green 'Rolex-type' pills were discovered at the Perthshire music festival.

Similar pills have been responsible for causing serious harm, but officers say there is no evidence to link them to the deaths of the 17-year-old boy and girl.

A spokesperson said: "Police Scotland has recovered a small number of green Rolex-type pills at T in the Park and is warning festival goers to beware of any others that may be in circulation.

"Pills similar to these have caused serious harm in the past although there is no evidence at present to link these to any other incidents at the festival.

"People are reminded there is no safe way of taking drugs and T in the Park has a zero tolerance drugs policy."

T in the Park is Scotland's biggest music festival, regularly attracting more than 80,000 revellers over the weekend.

So far there have been 40 arrests at this year's event and more than 300 crimes, including the theft of a cash machine from the main arena in the early hours of Friday.

Organisers say more than 300 trips to the hospital tent were for minor ailments.

This year marks the second time the event has been staged at Strathallan after moving from Balado in Kinross-shire in 2015.
