Riots in Berlin leave more than 120 police injured
A total of 86 demonstrators were detained in the leftist riots, which started on Saturday.
More than 120 officers were injured and 86 demonstrators detained in leftist riots in Berlin described by police as "the most aggressive and violent in the last five years".
Police said protesters threw bottles, cobblestones and fireworks, destroyed cars and attacked officers.
One officer was reported to have required hospital treatment. It was not immediately clear how many demonstrators were injured.
About 3,500 protesters took part in the rallies, which started on Saturday evening and lasted until early Sunday.
Activists called for a protest against police operations at buildings taken over by squatters in the eastern part of Berlin in June.
Around 1,800 police officers were called in to monitor the protesters.
