A former supermodel has been awarded £53m after a High Court divorce battle with her Saudi billionaire ex-husband.

Christina Estrada, 54, was fighting for £196m from Sheikh Walid Juffali, an international businessman, to meet her "reasonable needs".

The couple were married for 12 years and have a daughter together.

Her lawyers said the total settlement is "the largest needs award ever made by an English court", and added Estrada will receive in the region of £75m, taking in to account her own assets.

In a statement, Christina said Sheikh Walid "took both a second wife and divorced me without my knowledge", and said the process has been "bruising and distressing".
