Two alligators in Disney World attack on boy, says father
Matt Graves says 'another gator attacked him' as he fought to save his two-year-old son.
The distraught father of a two-year-old boy, dragged to his death by an alligator at the Walt Disney Resort in Florida last month, has said he was attacked by a second alligator as he fought to save his son.
Matt Graves tried desperately to save his son Lane, who was dragged into the park's Seven Seas Lagoon on June 15, but "another gator attacked him as he fought", according to an email sent by the Reedy Creek Fire Department.
Captain Tom Wallins said Mr Graves was en route to hospital for treatment on injuries he sustained trying to save his son, when he shared "the horror that he experienced".
A sheriff's office spokesman Angelo Nieves said a witness also said he had seen a second alligator attack the father.
Five alligators were killed before the the boy's body was found underwater the following day.
A post mortem showed he died from drowning and traumatic injuries.
According to state records, Walt Disney Co has had more than 240 "nuisance" alligators captured and killed over the past 10 years at its Florida park property.
