A one-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was reportedly shot in the head with an air rifle.

The infant was rushed to hospital after the incident at a property in Bishport Avenue in Hartcliffe, Bristol at 4pm on Friday afternoon.

He remains in a critical condition at Bristol Children's Hospital with a serious head injury.

A 24-year-old man and 23-year-old woman have been arrested while police investigate the circumstances of the shooting.

They are not related to the child.
