Nicola Sturgeon will meet with the President of the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday.
The First Minister and Martin Schulz will discuss the Scottish Government's attempts to try to secure the country's place in the European Union.
Following the Brexit vote, Ms Sturgeon said on Saturday that she would seek "immediate discussions" with the European Union's institutions and member states.
However, the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, has turned down a meeting with the First Minister in Brussels.
In the next few days Sturgeon also expects to meet with Jeane-Claude Juncker the President of the European Commission.
The First Minister is also expected to hold discussions with Guy Verhofstadt, the former Prime Minister of Belgium, who leads the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe parliamentary group in the European Parliament.
