Mountain rescue teams are searching for a hillwalker who disappeared after setting off on a walk in the Highlands at the weekend.

Mark Flinn, 68, was last seen leaving his accommodation in Achintraid in Wester Ross at around 9am on Sunday.

He is believed to have gone in the direction of Beinn Bhan and Sgurr a' Chaorachain, from the Applecross pass near the A896.

Torridon Mountain Rescue team carried out searches on Sunday night and resumed the operation on Monday with the support of the RAF Mountain Rescue Team and search and rescue dogs and handlers.

Mr Flinn is described as 6ft 3in, with a slim build and brown and grey curly hair, balding on top.

He is likely to be wearing a blue or red fleece underneath a navy blue Gortex type jacket, light brown walking boots and dark blue walking trousers.

Anyone who has information to assist the search is urged to contact Police on 101.

Police Scotland has appealed to anyone walking in the area to be mindful of the search activity and report anything that may assist.
