A man has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on the A85 in Perthshire.

The 52-year-old suffered serious chest injuries and was flown to hospital by air ambulance for treatment in Glasgow.

The man had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters after the accident a mile west of Methven at 11.30am on Friday.

The man who was driving the other car was taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious leg injuries, along with a woman passenger who suffered minor injuries in the collision.

The road was closed for hours after the crash and Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers appeal to witnesses who may have been travelling on the A85 and who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision, or who have any information to assist with enquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101."
