Public told to be on alert for Grangemouth warning sounds
The system is undergoing maintenance at the end of the month and could be activated.
Warning masts near the Grangemouth petrochemical plant may be sounded as maintenance is carried out.
The public warning system maintenance is scheduled to take place between Tuesday, June 28 and Friday, July 1 from 10am to 6pm.
During this period, the warning masts located throughout the petro-chemical works area may be activated briefly using either voice alerts or sounds as engineers test the system thoroughly.
Members of the public are being advised not to take action if the alerts are activated.
In the event of an actual incident during the maintenance this will be made clear in announcements and continuous warning sirens.
The public should follow instructions to go in, tune in and stay in if such an incident occurs..
