A man has been charged with murder following the death of a serving prisoner at a high-security unit on Monday.

Victor Castigador, 61, is accused of killing 59-year-old inmate Sidonio Teixeira at Long Lartin Prison in Worcestershire, according to West Mercia Police.

Teixeira was pronounced dead at around 9am on Monday.

The charge comes a little over a year after another prisoner was killed at the Category A unit.

Russell Anthony Oliver, 46, was handed a whole-life sentence in March 2016 for the murder of 25-year-old John York in May 2015.

Castigador will appear at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
