Donald Trump and campaign manager go separate ways
Corey Lewandowski leaves his job with the Republican presumptive presidential nominee.
Donald Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is leaving his job with the Republican presumptive presidential nominee.
Mr Trump's spokeswoman Hope Hicks confirmed Mr Lewandowski's departure, adding that the campaign is grateful for his "hard work and dedication".
Mr Lewandowski had been by Mr Trump's side since the beginning of his campaign, and travelled with him on his private plane to almost every campaign stop.
Mr Lewandowski, a controversial figure himself within the Trump campaign, frequently dismissed the idea that Mr Trump needed to hire more experienced political hands or temper his rhetoric.
Mr Lewandowski's departure comes as Mr Trump faced continued resistance from elements within the Republican Party concerned about his controversial statements.
