The residents of a village near Stirling hope to win government support for their regeneration plans.

Ambitious plans put forward to create a new community hub at the heart of the village of Cowie have been backed by Stirling Council.

Improvements to the main street and a place for the community to come together were top of the list of ideas highlighted by residents.

They also hope to gain better local and accessible services at a series of planning events.

The community has prepared an application to the Scottish Governments Regeneration Capital Grant Fund which, if successful, will support the revamp.

Stirling Council's committee wholeheartedly supported the community's efforts, the application to the Grant Fund and the partnership working.

Community planning and regeneration convener Corrie McChord said: "I'm pleased to see the level of community engagement and consultation that has gone into this proposal and if the funding application is successful I look forward to seeing how Cowie will transform as a community as the work progresses."
