CCTV images have been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with an assault that left the victim needing hospital treatment.

A 26-year-old man suffered a fractured elbow during the incident on Cowgate in Dundee city centre in December.

Police hope the images will help solve the case and have renewed their appeal for information.

The victim was assaulted at around 11.30pm on Saturday, December 5, and the suspect police are looking for is believed to have been in the area at the same time.

He is described as about 18, 5ft 8in and of slim build. At the time of the incident, he wearing a long sleeved grey top and had mid-length light brown hair with the fringe brushed to the right.

The man is believed to have come from the direction of the Town House pub on the corner of King Street in the company of two other men.

Detective sergeant Mike Ness said: "The male in these images was seen in the area at the time of the assault, I would ask him, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward as they may have information to assist with our inquiries.

"In addition, anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who has information regarding the assault is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, or speak to any police officer.

"Information can also be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
