Cannabis farm uncovered when neighbour's flat was flooded
Council officers had to force their way into his flat to try and mop up the mess.
A drug dealer has been jailed after his cannabis farm was discovered when the watering system flooded the flat below his.
Council officers had to force their way into his flat to try and mop up the mess and discovered several cannabis plants worth more than £2500.
Steven Bowler, 27, was jailed by sheriff Fiona Tait despite telling the court he was only using the drug himself and giving it free to his friends.
Bowler, of Green Road, Balbeggie, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis at his home on July 18 last year.
He also admitted having the drug in Scone the next day.
Fiscal depute Jill Drummond told Perth Sheriff Court that eight plants were recovered and that they had a potential value of £2612.
She said: "Perth and Kinross Council officers attended the property with joiners after a report from the occupier of the flat below that was coming into their property."
The prosecutor said Bowler was traced shortly after midnight and found to be carrying five small bags of cannabis.
"He stated it was for his own personal use and for giving away to friends.
"He clearly accepted he used it himself and if friends asked he would give them some, but did not receive any money."
Sheriff Fiona Tait told Bowler it was a "significant amount" and that she did not think there was any realistic alternative to a custodial sentence and jailed him for 150 days.
