Video report by ITV News Security Editor Rohit Kachroo

As Euro 2016 kicked off in France tonight, the country welcomed Europe to the stadium where its worst night of recent years began last November.

Even before a ball had been kicked, security had threatened to define this tournament.

Just seven months ago, 130 people were killed in the Paris terror attacks, where gunmen and suicide bombers attacked the Bataclan theatre and Stade de France.

As Euro 2016 began on Friday, the country had deployed enough police and army personnel to fill the Stade de France and more.

But concerns remain at the so-called fan parks where security fears are greatest.
