Twitter storm after weather presenter told to cover up on live TV
Liberte Chan was handed a grey cardigan because the TV station was 'receiving lots of emails'.
A weather presenter has sparked a storm all of her own after she was told to cover up live on air.
Liberte Chan, who works for California's KLTA, was handed a grey cardigan mid-broadcast.
When she asked why she should wear it, someone off camera was heard to say: "We're getting a lot of emails."
Twitter was quick to respond with many users branding the TV station "disgusting" and demanding they issue an apology.
Emily Sears wrote: "@KTLA you owe @libertechan a formal apology. As a viewer and a woman I'm completely disturbed to see this woman publicly shamed doing her job."
Misandry tweeted: "@KTLA owes @libertechan an on air apology because this was deplorable."
While Heather Poole praised Chan saying: "You handled an embarrassing and difficult situation really well. You deserve an ON AIR apology."
Others praised the person who passed Chan the cardigan for "helping her out".
But Chan was quick to defend her employer in a post of her blog 'Life of Liberte'.
She wrote: "For the record, I was not ordered by KLTA to put on the sweater. I was simply playing along with my co-anchor's joke.
"I truly love my job, I like my bosses and enjoy working with my co-workers. I want viewers to know it was never our intention to offend anyone."
