A woman was rescued from a first floor window during a blaze in her Clackmannanshire home.

Firefighters battled to put out the flames on the ground floor while using a ladder to reach the trapped woman from the house in Sauchie.

The woman was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and burns to the hand after the incident, which began at 10.18am on Monday.

Crews from Alloa fire station reached the scene at Gartmorn Road within five minutes and helped provide treatment until the arrival of the ambulance.

Station manager Andy Bennett said: "The crew immediately moved to conduct a ladder rescue and brought the woman straight out via the first floor window whilst firefighters worked to put out the flames on the ground floor and ventilate the property."

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reminded homeowners of the importance of having smoke alarms.
