A teenage boy has gone on trial accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in woods behind a high school.

He is said to have pushed his alleged victim against a tree and then to the ground before raping her near the Stirlingshire school where they were both pupils.

She reported the alleged incident to a police officer permanently stationed on the school premises.

Constable Alan Imrie, 43, told jurors at the High Court in Stirling that the girl had "looked worried or concerned" when she came to his office with a female school friend on the afternoon of January 6 last year.

The girl, who cannot be identified, then alleged she had been raped by the boy.

Mr Imrie said he went with the girl to the scene of the alleged incident and recovered a condom and wrapper.

Jurors were told it was a matter of agreement between prosecution and defence that the pair had sex in the woods.

The boy claims it was consensual. The boy, who also cannot be identified, was 15 at the time.

Now 17, he pleads not guilty to a single charge of rape.

Judge Lord Turnbull told the jury of seven women and eight men that the case could be expected to last "a few days".
