A thief has been charged with targeting pensioners at a sheltered housing complex in Dundee.

Paul Nicoll was allegedly found in three separate homes in a complex in Ann Street on April 29.

Nicoll is further accused of stealing £380 from 83-year-old George O'Rourke in Dickson Avenue on the same day before being found in the home address of Mary Martin, 95, with intent to steal.

Earlier this year, he allegedly stole £40 from Margaret Black, 78, at her home in Arbroath on February 2.

A further charge alleges he stole the same amount from Edward Strachan, 65, at an address in Craigie Street, Dundee on April 24.

Nicoll is also alleged to have stolen £20 and a bus pass from Jennifer Lamond, 62, at her home in Elm Street, Dundee, on April 25.

A final charge alleges Nicoll gave a false name and address to police in an attempt to pervert the course of justice.

Nicoll, 44, of no fixed abode, made no plea or declaration to the nine charges he faced on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court.

The case was continued for further examination during the brief private hearing and Nicoll was remanded in custody in the meantime.
