A 12-year-old boy has admitted raping a five-year-old girl.

Prosecutors said the victim has been left "traumatised" after the incident which happened in August last year, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The schoolboy, who is now aged 13, appeared at Fareham Youth Court in Hampshire on Thursday.

He has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register after admitting the offence.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also given a referral order for 12 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15.
