Police Scotland has faced a number of significant challenges since being created on April 1, 2013.

The single force was put into place by the Scottish Government after a merger of Scotland's eight regional services together with the specialist Scottish Police Services Authority, including the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency.

It has come under sustained pressure after a number of high-profile incidents and mis takes since its establishment.
