Industrial pizza ovens have been stolen in a £10,000 raid on a Dundee takeaway.

The thieves managed to remove two pizza ovens from Abdul's Curry House in Broughty Ferry, as well as six burner cookers and three stainless steel tables.

The business in the Campfield Square shopping area has been closed since the theft which took place sometime between midnight and 3.20pm on Friday.

A fellow shop owner described the theft as "very strange".

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the time.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland is appealing for information after £10,000 worth of catering equipment was stolen from a takeaway premises in Campfield Square, Barnhill, Dundee.

"Thieves made off with the equipment sometime just after midnight and 3.20pm on Friday 6 May.

"Items stolen included two pizza ovens, six burner cookers and three stainless steel tables.

"Anyone with any information that may be useful should contact Police Scotland, Tayside Division on 101, or any police officer.

"Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
