Family of Sheku Bayoh to meet Scotland's Lord Advocate
The father-of-two died after being restrained by officers in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on May 3 last year.
The family of a father-of-two who died in police custody are preparing to meet Scotland's most senior legal officer.
Sheku Bayoh died after being restrained by officers in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on May 3, 2015.
The death of the 31-year-old is currently being investigated by Police Scotland's independent watchdog, the Police Investigations Review Commissioner.
His partner Collette Bell, sisters Kadi Johnson, Adama Jalloh and Kosna Bayoh, mother Aminata Bayoh and brother-in-law Ade Johnson will meet Scotland's Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland QC in Edinburgh on Monday morning.
The discussion is expected to last around an hour and will be attended by the family's solicitor, Aamer Anwar.
A statement is expected to be issued outside the Crown Office following the meeting.
The discussion will be held a day after the family laid flowers at the spot Mr Bayoh died, Hayfield Road in Kirkcaldy, and held a service celebrating his life.
His relatives have previously met Mr Mulholland to complain that there were "too many questions and not enough answers" over the death.
Mr Mulholland has already confirmed a fatal accident inquiry into the death will be held, regardless of any criminal proceedings.
