School partially closed after structural problems found
'Issues' were found in a stairwell wall at Balfron High School in Stirlingshire.
A high school in Stirlingshire will be partially closed after structural problems were found.
Checks at Balfron High School revealed "issues" with a wall in a stairwell and the school's atrium.
The council has said repair work will need to be carried out and the school will be closed for S1 to S3 pupils until Friday, May 13.
It will remain open to pupils who are due to sit their exams. The school was built under a private finance initiative 15 years ago.
Stirling council said: "Recent precautionary checks at Balfron High School brought to light two issues with walls in a stairwell and the school's small gym, and parents were notified of this.
"These are issues that would have been expected to arise within a building that is now 15 years old and were not deemed to be due to building quality or practices at that time.
"However, further investigations by engineers revealed another potential issue with the wall of the stairwell which was not immediately obvious during previous checks, and additional issues in the atrium."
It continued: "Arrangements are currently being put in place for possible alternative provision as required from Thursday and we will update parents, carers and pupils as soon as more information is available.
"Our priority is to minimise disruption and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all of our pupils and staff, and further updates will be provided as soon as possible."
The closure at Balfron High School comes after 17 schools across Edinburgh were closed due to fears over structural faults.
The 17 buildings were built by Miller Construction under private finance initiative schemes.
Nine of the schools will continue to be affected until after the summer holidays.
