The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released new photographs of Princess Charlotte, ahead of her first birthday.

The photos were taken by her mother at their home in Norfolk.

The images were released on the Kensington Palace Twitter feed with the message: "We hope that everyone enjoys these lovely photos as much as we do."

Princess Charlotte is to celebrate her first birthday on Monday.

Her privacy has been carefully guarded by the Duke and Duchess.

During the past year she has only been seen in public on one other occasion - her christening.

Princess Charlotte was born on 2 May 2015.

She was named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana in tribute to her grandmother Diana, Princess of Wales and her great-grandmother the Queen.
