One police officer has been killed and 13 people have been wounded in a car bomb attack at a police headquarters in Turkey's southeastern city of Gaziantep, according to an official and security sources.

Nine of those wounded in the blast were police officers, Ali Yerlikaya, governor of Gaziantep province said, according to CNN Turk.

Gaziantep, which borders territory controlled by so-called Islamic State in neighbouring Syria, has been hit by a succession of attacks in recent weeks.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
