Police in Norway say a helicopter carrying 14 people has crashed near the city of Bergen.

Several people could be seen in the ocean, while the helicopter itself was stranded on a small island, an eyewitness told the channel TV2 news.

The area off Norway's west coast sees frequent helicopter traffic to and from offshore oil installations.
