A man has been arrested after the body of a mother was discovered in her own home in Newton Mearns.

Police were called to a property on Beech Avenue in the up-market suburb in East Renfrewshire on Tuesday night and discovered the 39-year-old woman inside.

The victim has now been named as Xin Xin Liu. It is understood she had two young boys.

A 38-year-old man has now been placed under arrest and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the death of the woman.

A report will be handed to the procurator fiscal.
