Three members of a British family - including two young children - killed in a car crash in France on Sunday have been named.

John William Crompton and his children Morgan Christian Lund, 9, and Evie-Lily Crompton, 4, died when their vehicle smashed through a safety barrier and struck a concrete pillar near Beaurepaire-en-Bresse, eastern France.

The 31-year-old's partner, Makayla Louise Lund, 25, and Kyle Lucas Crompton, 2, remain in "serious" conditions in hospital following the crash.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said its "deepest sympathies" were with the family.

"Our staff in England and France are continuing to provide assistance at this difficult time, and we will remain in contact with French authorities", they said.
