Concerns have been raised after a restricted patient from a clinic at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital absconded during an escorted outing.

Paul Brownlie is a patient at the Orchard Clinic at the Morningside complex, an inpatient facility for patients with complex mental health needs and intensive treatment.

Mr Brownlie is not considered to be of a high risk of harm but members of the public are being told not to approach him if he is spotted.

He is described as being just over six feet tall with a stocky build, an unshaven face, blue eyes and short light brown hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a black jacket, a light blue round neck jumper, dark blue jeans and black shoes.

Authorities are keen to trace Mr Brownlie as soon as possible and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact Police Scotland on the non-emergency 101 number.
