A 27-year-old man had to be airlifted to hospital after a serious road collision between a motorcycle and a car in Tayside.

The incident occurred at around 4.20pm on Saturday afternoon on the A822 Braco to Crieff Road at the junction heading to Gunnocks.

A white Triumph motorcycle collided with a black Volkswagen Golf, causing serious injury to the motorcyclist.

An air ambulance attended the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where he is receiving treatment.

Neither the male driver or female passenger of the Volkswagen sustained any injury.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision to call Police Scotland on 101, or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with any information.
