A dog walker has spotted across a metal poacher's trap in a park, prompting a council investigation.

Linzi Marshall posted the pictures on Facebook after found the dangerous device in Balgay Park, Dundee.

She said she was lucky her dog Angus was on the lead but has warned other walkers to be vigilant in case their pet is hurt.

She said: "Anyone walking in Balgay Park, Dundee, particularly small-dog owners.

"Stumbled across what looks like a poaching trap (bigger than it looks in the photo, suspect it's for catching rabbits.

"It's off the main path and purposely camouflaged but if a dog was off the lead it could easily go investigating - Angus did.

"I've reported it to the council as I sincerely doubt it's a council set trap (could be wrong) but best be vigilant if you are there."

Dundee City Council said it was looking into the matter after being alerted to the post.

A spokesman said: "We are investigating after being alerted to this."
