A British man missing in Peru for over a week has been found dead, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

Harry Greaves, 29, who was travelling in the south American country had not been seen since he went to visit a mountain more than a week ago.

In a Facebook post, his family confirmed "with great sadness" that Mr Greaves had died.

A post on the "search for Harry" Facebook page said: "Our dearest Harry has been found. It is with great sadness that we announce that his smile will no longer give such light, he will no longer give calm through his touch, and wisdom through his words.

"Thank you to everyone who has helped us find our beloved Harry. His spirit will always be with us. From his loving family."

His body was located by police and volunteers in a 40-metre crevasse on Tuesday.
