A police officer who sexually assaulted a colleague whilst on duty has been jailed for six months.

PC Rytis Gilys, 33, twice touched the leg of his colleague and also moved his hand towards her belt whilst parked in a patrol car.

In late 2013, Gilys telephoned his colleague to offer to attend a vehicle seizure with him.

The colleague, who was new to her role, accepted and whilst parked on a quiet street Gilys began talking inappropriately about sex.

He proceeded to touch her leg and move his hand towards her belt, to which the victim pushed him away.

At Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday Gilys was convicted of one count of sexual assault.

He was cleared of four other counts of the same charge against two other complainants.
