Ikea has recalled a bat cape costume over fears it could strangle children.

The Swedish retail giant said there were reports its LATTJO cape had caused marks and scratches to children's necks.

None of the injuries warranted medical treatment but Ikea said it had taken the precautionary step of recalling the costume "due to the risk of strangulation or injuries to the neck".

The cape, which has been on sale in the UK since November, can be returned to any store for a full refund.
