Dundee University named best young institution in the UK
Principal and vice-chancellor Sir Pete Downes hails 'tremendous accolade'.
Dundee University has been revealed as the top young institution in the UK.
A ranking of the world's top 150 universities that are under 50 years old has been published by The Times Higher Education.
Dundee is the best of 25 UK institutions included in the rankings and the only one to appear in the top 40 places.
Professor Sir Pete Downes, principal and vice-chancellor of the university, said: "This is another tremendous accolade for Dundee, following on from being named in THE's world top 200, Scottish University of the Year and best in Scotland across a host of measures including the National Student Survey and the International Student Barometer.
"Our work at Dundee carries global impact and we have built an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching, while the experience we offer students has been consistently highly rated.
"I am particularly pleased to see we have improved our overall position against growing investment and competition internationally.
This is the fifth year Times Higher Education have produced their global under 50 rankings.
Phil Baty, Times Higher Education rankings editor, said: "The UK is the most-represented country in this year's list of the world's best young universities, boasting an impressive 25 institutions in the top 150. Eleven of these make the top 100, led by the University of Dundee in 16th place."
