UK families are 'buying Nepalese children as slaves'
Newspaper investigation claims gangs are selling children so they can work as domestic slaves.
British families are paying just a few thousand pounds for child survivors of the Nepalese earthquake to work as domestic slaves.
According to an investigation by The Sun newspaper, boys and girls as young as 10 are being sold for just £5,250 by black market gangs operating in India.
Children of Nepalese refugees and destitute Indian families are primary targets, the newspaper alleges.
Home Secretary Theresa May said child trafficking is a "truly abhorrent crime" and urged the National Crime Agency to investigate the claims.
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on in April last year, killing almost 9,000 people and leaving millions in need of aid.
