Police are hunting a gang of five men who robbed another man of more than £10,000 in his own house.

Jewellery was also stolen in the raid, which left the 32-year-old victim shocked but uninjured, on Forfar Road in Dundee at around 8pm on Wednesday.

The gang were wearing dark clothing and made off in a dark BMW 5 series car, which had an Irish registration plate.

It was last seen being driven westwards on the Kingsway in Dundee at about 8.20pm and a similar vehicle was then seen on the M90 at the Broxden roundabout near Perth about 40 minutes later.

A police spokesman said: "Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the Dundee area shortly before the crime, or after the crime, to come forward with any information that could assist with enquiries.

"Residents who may have noticed any suspicious people or activity in the area of Forfar Road are also asked to report this.

"Similarly, police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching this description in the Perth area, including the M90 or A9 at around 9pm.

"It is possible that the vehicle was being driven erratically or at speed."

Anyone who has information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any officer.
