An aircraft that has been at the heart of military operations for a generation has seen its final flypast.

Originally designed for anti-submarine warfare, the Sea King Mk4 has been airborne for 37 years with the commando helicopter force.

Dubbed the "Land-rover of the sky" for it's versatility, the helicopter has been in the skies since the 1970s and active duty for Britain's armed forces has almost always demanded a role for these helicopters.

But it's an analogue aircraft flying in a digital world and is judged archaic by today's standards.
