Man accused of Molotov cocktail attack on miners club
Roger Walker allegedly threw petrol bomb into venue in Bannockburn, Stirlingshire.
A man is to face trial accused of petrol bombing a miners club with a Molotov cocktail.
Roger Walker is said to have thrown the device into the Bannockburn Miners Welfare amd Social Club in Stirlingshire in the alleged attack.
Walker, 40, faces a single charge on indictment. It says that, on May 23 last year, at the venue on Morrison Drive, he "wilfully set fire to a rag attached to a bottle containing petrol and threw same into the club".
The charge alleges the fire took effect, destroying a double-glazed window, four chairs, a table, and a section of flooring, and also caused smoke damage to the premises.
At a preliminary hearing at Stirling Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Walker, of Whins of Milton, Stirling, pleaded not guilty.
His solicitor Virgil Crawford and prosecutor Sarah Lumsden confirmed both sides were ready for trial.
Sheriff William Gilchrist continued the case for a jury trial in Stirling on March 29.
