Emergency services were called to central Glasgow amid reports of a person having fallen into the River Clyde.

Police, fire and coastguard teams were assisting in the search around Clyde Street and the Broomielaw on Friday evening. Ambulances were also on standby at the scene.

A coastguard helicopter and boat unit were being used in the search, which is understood to have begun near the Grosvenor Casino before moving downriver towards the Clyde Arc bridge.

A police spokesman said they were called to the scene around 8pm. There were no details on the person's identity, he added.
