A patient who absconded from a psychiatric hospital could be in Edinburgh, according to police.

Lee McFadyen, 29, was last seen by staff at Leverndale Hospital in Glasgow at 4.20pm on Thursday.

He is white, 5ft 10in and of slim build, and fair complexion with black hair and brown eyes.

Sergeant Ross Jackson, of Barrhead police office, said: "Despite our extensive inquiries, we have been so far unable to trace Lee and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"The latest information we have is that he was last seen on Crookston Road near to Paisley Road West, Glasgow, near to Leverndale Hospital on Thursday.

"At that time he was wearing royal blue trainers, blue denims, a navy T-shirt, royal blue sweatshirt, black parka and a burgundy scarf.

"It is possible that Lee has travelled to Edinburgh and maybe frequenting some licensed premises, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender venues.

"I'd ask anyone who recognises him from the photograph or has seen someone matching his description to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information regarding Mr McFadyen's whereabouts is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
