Human remains have been discovered next to a Tesco petrol station, according to police.

The remains were found in a patch of undergrowth beside the supermarket petrol station forecourt in North Harbour, Portsmouth around 11am on Wednesday.

Police confirmed the discovery at the Clement Attlee Way store "appears to be human remains" and said they had put a cordon in place while they continued to investigate the area.

Hampshire Constabulary have not made any comment on how old the remains are or given any further details.
